Precious were his words.

Ed proposed marriage to me and I accepted!

Ed and myself - July 1st 2006

Okay, so a lot of you are wanting to know how it happened.

Here's the skinny.

At lunch on the 11th of July (last Wednesday), Ed told his friends who were eating lunch with us that he was planning on asking me a big question. (I was in the bathroom)

It turns out, that he had been carrying around a ring with him for a few days, but never had the appropriate time to ask the question. Our anniversary of our first kiss was July 1st. I was out of town that day-- on a plane from California and I think he was driving on the highway from Louisiana.

Well, the first day we messed around Washington DC, it was 101 degrees; we were sweaty and tired, and cranky. The second day in DC, we got rained on in a huge thunderstorm and were standing in tour lines in the capitol.... he thought about asking me on the medallion in the center of the rotunda, but.... lines of people and impatient tour guides were not helping out with the mood.

Then on the third day, the exotic gems exhibit in the Smithsonian Institute was sparkly, roomy (no crouds) and perfect.

So this is what happened: I was sent down to the museum store to look for boy scout patches and Susan went with me. When we returned to join the others, I gave Lainey a present that I found in the gift shop, a sparkly rainbow crystal in the shape of a heart and then, Ed asked me right there in front of God and everybody in the exotic gems exhibit if I would marry him. He went down on one knee and said beautiful words and presented me with a sparkly, sapphire ring. It's really pretty.

I said yes.

So there you have it!

He said he would have asked me a few months ago, if he had the ring.... but this all just timed perfectly. It was our last day to hang out with our friends in DC and the last day we were going to be at the Smithsonian.

The next day we went to the zoo and the day after that, we left for home.

I have to say something about MySpace.com:

On November 27, 2005 I added a new friend on MySpace... "EdLab"

On December 23, 2005 I met him in person for the first time.

On July 1, 2006 he kissed me for the first time.

and on July 11, 2007 he asked me to marry him in the exotic gems exhibit in the Smithsonian Institute's museum of natural history in Washington DC.

I am engaged to Ed and if it weren't for the miracle of the internet, it would never have happened!

YAY MYSPACE AND YAY US!!!!
